Description

If you're looking for more power and torque or just need to replace your failed stock turbo, this CR 170 turbo from Borg Warner is the way to go. This turbo comes standard on the 170 hp European versions of our North American TDIs. This high quality european made turbo is an easy bolt-on modification that will increase your performance without hurting your engine. Malone Tuning and a Rawtek exhaust system is required for safe and reliable use of this turbo.

Disclaimer:

Installation: 

At the moment we do not have a complete step by step installation guide for this project, however the hardest part is removing the factory DPF and instructions for that can be found hereThis easy DIY project was discovered and organized by JFettig, a member of the TDIClub.com, you can find a plethora of information about his build and others here.

Here is a brief list of steps to help guide you through the installation:

  • Remove DPF (instructions for this here)
  • Remove oil return line
  • Remove oil feed line
  • Remove turbo outlet
  • Disconnected all sensors
  • Remove the passenger side axle
  • Pull all 8 exhaust nuts from the turbo to head studs
  • Pull turbo off of the head and lower it through the opening between the subframe and the oil pan
  • Now lift the new turbo through that opening and reinstall turbo and all components
